GGz Breburg: QuestManager as source for collaborative decision making
- Organization: GGz Breburg
- Mental health care (GGZ)
- Implemented solution: QuestManager
Issue
GGz Breburg is a mental health provider in the Central and West Brabant region that offers both basic and specialist mental health care for a broad target group. The client and the network are central to this. The treatment is tailored to the wishes and possibilities of the client. Therefore, the client takes as much control as possible in his/her recovery. GGz Breburg uses QuestManager to measure recovery and as a source of information when making joint decisions about treatment choices.
The strategic course of GGz Breburg is aimed at guaranteeing high quality and accessible mental healthcare. Important points from this course are: working in accordance with the unique needs of the client and the network, working together with clients, relatives and other care providers and network partners in the region, a demand-oriented approach close to the client and the network and the use of technology as a tool.
Mental Health Centers
In line with the strategic direction, the arrival of Mental Health Centers (MGs) has recently brought mental health expertise closer to citizens, with the goal of delivering appropriate treatment or support more quickly in a demand-oriented manner. In this, the first step is the Exploratory Interview (VG), in which the request for help, as part of the story, is explored with citizen and network. On the basis of this exploration, we look together at what help is needed and appropriate; this can be either inside or outside the mental health care system. If mental health care help is needed, there are several options. If it is at GGz Breburg, it can be basic or specialist ggz in the MG or specialist treatment in an expertise center.
Forerunners in research
GGz Breburg deploys questionnaires (ROM) via QuestManager both in the Mental Health Centers and in expertise centers. Margot Metz says: 'The use of questionnaires is helpful to get a clear picture of the progress in recovery, to discuss this with the client and to make appropriate choices about treatment together. At group level outcome information is used to learn from and also (with the consent of the client) for research'. GGz Breburg monitors the broad perspective on recovery from a client perspective in a positive way through the recovery instrument the Individual Recovery Outcomes Counter (I.ROC). There is now also a Dutch version of this, namely the Youth Recovery Oucomes Counter (Y.ROC). Margot continues: 'Both instruments are visualized in QuestManager in a beautiful and understandable way in a spider web. In addition (appropriate to the target group) complaint lists are also used via QuestManager'. GGz Breburg also uses QuestManager to measure client satisfaction and practice-based research.
The use of QuestManager within GGz Breburg
Margot Metz tells more about the use of QuestManager within GGz Breburg: "Working with QuestManager provides us with low-threshold options for having clients and stakeholders fill out measurement instruments in different places and presenting the results visually in a comprehensible manner. The system has many possibilities and is linked to the EPD and eHealth platform. We have also set up the system so that per target group, with one push of a button, measuring instruments can be prepared for multiple measurement moments. Helpers can directly view the measurement results via the EPD via clear graphs and discuss them with the client. Clients can view their ROM results via the eHealth platform in QuestManager. At a glance, client and practitioner can see how recovery is progressing.". After all, research* shows that clients appreciate ROM as a source of information in collaborative decision making, as long as the questionnaires are not too long, match the request for help and outcomes are also discussed.
